Hi, my name is Sofoklis! I'm a third generation Greek-Australian. My grandparents arrived in Australia during the post–World War II migration wave of the 1960s. Like many descendants of immigrants, I've developed a deep curiosity about my grandparents' journey to Australia and the lives they led before migrating.

The idea for the OurStories app was born from that curiosity. I found myself staying up until three in the morning, researching my ancestry with tools like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch, trying to piece together my family's migration story. Along the way, I discovered records of relatives who had settled in America, Europe, Africa, and other parts of Australia, documents about migration, military service, and more.

Yet what fascinated me most were the gaps: the motivations, the choices, the personal stories that history often forgets to record. Those invisible details. The "why" behind their decisions felt just as important to preserve as the facts themselves. That's when the idea struck me: Our mission is to create an tool dedicated to capturing and preserving these stories before they fade away.

I came across a quote in my local newspaper, Neos Kosmos, that perfectly captures this vision:
"That love should not be postponed.
That presence cannot be deferred 'for later.'
That we honour our people while they are alive."
